Nasi Tumpeng for a friend in Singapore

Nasi Tumpeng is an exotic dish of turmeric-flavoured rice, bright yellow and shaped into a cone, served with side dishes (meat and vegetables) and beautifully decorated with hand-crafted vegetables.

This dish has significant meaning. The mounds of rice represents gold, and the many dishes surround it shows bountiful of foods and lucks.

Tumpeng is also a symbol of life and ecosystems. Towering cone of rice symbolizes the greatness of God, the Creator of nature and its contents.
While the assorted side dishes are symbol of the content of this universe.

The Tumpeng Rice in this post's pictures was made on 03-Mar-2012, for Frankie & Una's House Warming. Yellow Rice and five dishes, i.e.: corned beef potato fritter (perkedel corned), fried chicken (ayam goreng), spicy shrimp and potato (sambal goreng udang dan kentang), Indonesian Veggie Salad (urap), Shredded Fried Egg (telur rawis). Some beautiful white radish "tulip" flowers and egg "bird nest" has been added as the centerpiece.

We wish Una & Frankie a Happy House Warming. We hope they like it.. :)
